There’s always something to do at Little Haven
Little Haven prides itself on a full weekly activities programme offering something for everyone whatever their needs or abilities. In addition to organised activities there are times set aside for our activities team to visit residents in their rooms for one-to-one support. The activity plan changes each week and will include both in-house activities and external entertainers and speakers visiting the home.
Lucy King is our full time Activities Co-ordinator and she is assisted by Theresa Woolley who also works as a Health Care Assistant within the home. Their knowledge of each resident and their particular likes and dislikes is essential to ensure that a fully inclusive activity programme is maintained.
Lucy and Theresa are very popular members of the team at Little Haven and go above and beyond to ensure all residents are involved in the home.
Generally, the most popular activities at Little Haven include outside entertainers such as Retro Rita and Paul Nicholas who sing the old tunes. Other outside entertainers include a magician, a pianist, a talk on the New Forest Ponies and much more. Other regular scheduled activities include Tai Chi, Movement to Music, team Scrabble matches, Bingo and of course our ever popular afternoon teas.
In addition, the activities team support residents to visit local community groups and cafes as required. Outside trips to the forest and local attractions are also available from time to time.
Twice monthly St Andrews Church in Dibden Purlieu visit the home to hold Holy Communion for residents who wish to attend. Songs of Praise sessions are also regularly hosted at the home.
Themed lunches are planned each month where the activities team work with the kitchen team to produce a fun and tasty lunch based on a chosen theme such as Chinese New Year, Bonfire Night or St George’s Day.
Holidays are celebrated at the home and Christmas is an especially busy time of year at Little Haven with visiting choirs, a travelling pantomime, raffles, crafts and a visiting Santa.
